“There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good.” Edwin Denby
Hello everyone and thank you for taking a few moments to read up on the latest insanity in QCDQ family. As you well know, March Madness is underway and it is totally rockin’ our world!!! So many of your are on your way to meeting the Sweet 16 Challenge of attending 16 classes in the month of March!!! This means we’ve been seeing you A LOT and this makes us more happy than you know! Classes have been packed and the energy has been super high, and you all have been psyched about being able to come to class so often. It is great to see all of you having fun, smiling and dancing, not once or twice but FOUR or more times a week!!! And some people have been going to 2 classes in one night! Woo hoo!!! This is MADNESS!!! And we love every bit of it! Seriously though, no matter how many times you are coming to class, the best thing is seeing you let loose in class! Doesn’t it feel good just to forget your inhibitions, let your guard down and just get carried away with the music? So we might all be a little crazy, but isn’t it exhilarating!?!!? Isn’t it what enjoying life is all about? Being with friends, dancing without a care to good music, and of course singing out loud? Personally, I think it is and I’m glad I’m not the only one!!! You all rock!
Besides March Madness there is a lot of upcoming stuff that I want to highlight in this month’s tidbits. So check it out, and as always, let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
March Tidbits Highlights Monthly Unlimited coming in May!
March Madness Update…. Just wanted to thank everyone who is participating in March Madness. In total we had more than 50 participants sign up for March Madness and the majority of you are playing to win the Sweet 16 challenge! If so, hopefully you have been filling out your bracket with the scores from each class. FYI, the scores are announced at the end of class, but sometimes we don’t figure out until later that there were some participants who didn’t sign in, so for that reason, you should make sure you check the scoreboard online to make sure you have the right score. (Side bar Request: Please make sure that you are signing in before you begin class…. This is important every month, but especially during March Madness). Also, your t-shirts will be in this week; hopefully on Monday or Tuesday. I’ll bring them to class as soon as they come in! When you have completed your bracket, then you can figure out what your “champion” class is and then you can turn in your bracket (even if March isn’t over, you can turn in your card as soon as you complete your 16th class and keep coming to class as often as you wish). All participants with completed brackets must turn in their brackets by March 31st in order to be entered in the drawing….Make sure it has your name on it!!! Keep jammin’ and comin’ to class! New Instructor Trainees...If you’ve been to class in the past few weeks, you will have noticed that we have 4 new instructors in training! They are Gaby Contreras, Kyle Evans, Nicole Mattern, & Arleen Segovia! They all have been attending QCDQ classes for a long time and they all completed the QCDQ Instructor Workshop on February 21, 2009. Now they are completing the training program by co-teaching classes in preparation for starting their own QCDQ classes. Thank you for being so supportive of the trainees and allowing them the opportunity to become stellar instructors through this hands-on training process. When they complete their training, they will be bringing you more classes in more locations… see below!!! Return to top

While it is an aerobic workout, be ready to also tone and shape your arms, abs and buns with these hot moves. FYI...We already do a ton of these songs in class! If you like Beware of the Boys, Maneater, Ooh Ooh Baby, Beautiful Liar, Hip’s Don’t Lie, & Milkshake then you will love this class. You’ll get these and more in this new QCDQ class! Spring Fling Showcase...This Saturday, March 21 from 1-3 Mecklenburg Parks & Rec will be hosting a Spring Fling Showcase of all the programs that take place at their facilities. Queen City Dancing Queen was invited to do a demo at this event since we have classes at 2 different recreation centers. We would love to have you come out and rock with us!!!! We will do a few of our most popular numbers from our classes! As I mentioned the event is from 1-3, but we will be performing from 1:45-2:00 on the main stage. It would be so awesome to have you come and jam with us on stage, or if you didn't want to perform you can give us your support in the crowd . Come on out and let's show Charlotte how we work it out the QCDQ way! If you would like to perform with us, please shoot me an email so I can know how many to expect. By the way, there will be lots of other stuff going on so bring your family and make an afternoon of it! Click here for more info on the entire event. Return to top

Monthly Unlimited Class Card coming in MAY!!.. We had such a fabulous response to the unlimited classes that March Madness brought us, that we wanted to offer this as an option for people who are dedicated to coming to class 3 or more times/week. And now with the additional classes that we will be adding on we think that even more people will be interested in this option. The cost of the monthly unlimited card will be $48, but there will be additional discounts for participants who take their 3x/week commitment seriously and even more additional discounts for Jam Crew, so the cost of the monthly unlimited card could actually end up being even less! More details to come, but just keep this in mind if you run out of your class card in April. Return to top
New Songs… We’ve got a ton of new songs that we’ve been busting out in class lately– everything from “Sweaty Gorilla” to “Freeze” to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”! I hope you are enjoying them as much as we are. Remember, our goal is to keep you moving as much as possible and that is why we don’t stop between songs to teach every new step. BUT as we wear these songs out, I promise you will get the moves if you just keep on coming to class!!! To see the names, artists and genres of our newest numbers, click here to view our online song list. Return to top
First Class FREE!! Good news!!!! We brought back first class free so that you can now invite your friends, neighbors, brothers, sisters, cousins, etc to come to class risk free and try it out, BUT there is one condition. They must bring in their participant form filled out and ready to go!! That’s it. This will help to reduce the confusion during the sign-in process and make things much easier to manage. Thank you for continuing to spread the word about our classes!! To print this form for your friends, please click here. Or you can tell your friends to visit the website and follow the links to print the form.
Other Tidbits… As usual, I have to share with you other fun tidbits that I’ve run across in the past month. Enjoy! 1. Law of Probability: The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act. Carrie B sent me an email with a bunch of other life-isms, but I thought this one was funniest. 2. Pose for anxiety: Feeling stressed? The best position to be in when you are stressed out is laying down on your belly with your forehead resting on your hands. Apparently, being close to the ground keeps you grounded. 3. Bear Pole Dancing: Check this out…!!! Return to top 4. Small Business Highlight: Michelle Zelaya comes to the Charlotte classes at Kelly O’sheas and Hickory Grove. She and her husband Melvin own and operate a residential painting company called Zelaya Painting, LLC. The company does interior and exterior residential painting, but they also do sheetrock repair, crown moulding and pressure washing. They are fully licensed and insured and they will do free estimates. You can call them at 704-724-6807 or email zelayapainting@yahoo.com.
Thank you as always for checking in on the latest in QCDQ news. I look forward to another fabulous month of dancing with all of you!!! Much much much love, Angie
